💸

Cash, MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money. Fares round down — no awkward "no change" moments.

You rate, we listen

Every trip ends with a rating. Our team in Kampala reviews them — drivers and riders both.

Why riders pick Tinka over Bolt, Uber and SafeBoda

Four things Tinka does that the global ride apps don't — every one of them designed specifically for how Kampala actually moves.

💸 Fares rounded down — silently

Your UGX 11,321 ride becomes UGX 11,000. Always. Bolt and Uber charge to the shilling and expect drivers to find change you don't have. Tinka rounds down to the nearest UGX 500 automatically — no awkward "I don't have small money" at the end of the trip.

🛣️ First 500 metres free on every ride

Every trip starts with a 500-metre discount baked into the fare. Across daily commuting, that adds up to thousands of shillings saved every month — and we don't make a fuss about it like other apps make of promo codes.

⚡ One app: car, boda, delivery

Need a quick boda to Bukoto, a sedan to Entebbe Airport, or someone to drop a parcel in Ntinda? All in the same Tinka app, with the same wallet and the same trip history.

📞 A local team that actually answers

When you need support, you reach a real person in our Kampala office — not a chatbot in Estonia. WhatsApp +256 760 722262 or pop into Akamwesi Mall on Gayaza-Kampala Road and someone will help.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tinka cheaper than Bolt or Uber in Kampala?

Generally yes — Tinka rounds every fare down to the nearest UGX 500 and gives you 500 metres free on every trip. On a typical Kampala ride that's roughly UGX 500–1,000 cheaper than Bolt or Uber for the same distance. We also avoid the aggressive surge pricing that hits Bolt and Uber on rainy evenings.

Can I take Tinka from Entebbe Airport to Kampala?

Yes — and you should. The Entebbe-to-Kampala trip is one of the most overcharged journeys in Uganda. A Tinka sedan via the expressway is roughly UGX 95,000 vs the UGX 150,000+ the airport rank taxis quote. See our full Entebbe-to-Kampala airport transfer guide.

How do Tinka drivers get paid?

Same day, via mobile money. The driver finishes a trip, the wallet updates instantly, and they can withdraw to MTN MoMo or Airtel Money any time. Bolt, Uber and SafeBoda pay weekly. That cash-flow difference is why drivers switch to Tinka.

Is Tinka boda boda safe?

Yes — every Tinka boda driver is verified, insured, and required to provide a helmet for the passenger. We wrote an honest piece on boda safety in Kampala that compares Tinka, SafeBoda and stage bodas.

Can I drive for Tinka?

If you have a car or boda in good condition, a valid Class A or B driving permit, an MTN/Airtel mobile money account, and the standard documents (LC1 letter, police clearance, logbook, insurance, national ID), you can be on the road within 5 working days. Full driver requirements and earnings here.

Does Tinka work outside Kampala?

Yes — Tinka is now active in 15+ Ugandan cities. The Kampala metro (Kampala, Wakiso, Entebbe, Mukono, Jinja) plus Mbarara, Mbale, Gulu, Arua, Lira, Masaka, Hoima, Fort Portal and Soroti. The platform is configured to launch in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi next.
