Tinka is a Ugandan-built ride-hailing app launched in 2025. Same-day driver payouts, fares rounded down to clean shillings, and a local team you can actually reach. We compete with Bolt, Uber and SafeBoda on the things that matter to riders and drivers — not on advertising budget.
Our story
Tinka started because the people building ride apps for Uganda kept forgetting how Uganda actually works. Apps that wanted exact change. Apps that paid drivers a week after the trip. Apps with support teams in countries that don't know Kampala's roads. Apps that charged surge prices on every rainy afternoon.
We built Tinka to fix those specific things. Fares round down to the nearest UGX 500 — so the driver always has change. Drivers get paid the same day via MTN MoMo or Airtel Money — so they have working capital tomorrow. Our support team sits in our Akamwesi Mall office on Gayaza Road — so when something goes wrong, you reach a person, not a chatbot.
It's not glamorous engineering. It's just paying attention to a market other apps treat as an afterthought. That difference is why drivers switch to us and why riders come back.
