A Deaf rider told Tinka a driver's phone call ended his trip before it began. Within days Tinka shipped a Deaf-friendly mode for riders and drivers: the driver is told before pickup, call buttons are replaced by chat, Deaf drivers get flashing, vibrating trip requests, and abuse of Deaf users is treated as a serious safety report. Tinka now checks every driver's face. A live selfie is matched to the approved driver before going online, with surprise re-checks. A different face puts the account on hold, banned drivers are blocked from returning by face, phone, plate and permit, and number plates are read from car photos.
