New · Tinka speaks your language 🌍
Write in your language. Your driver reads it in theirs.
Visiting Uganda and don't speak English? No problem. Tinka works in 7 languages, and the trip chat has a built-in translator: write in Chinese, German, Arabic or Swahili, and your driver taps Translate to read it in English. Their reply comes back to you in your language.

A visitor at a Kampala hotel, and a driver who speaks English.
How it works
Choose your language
Open Accounts → Change Language and pick English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Swahili or Chinese. The whole app switches, for riders and for drivers.
Chat as you normally would
Write to your driver (or rider) in any language you like, including Luganda, Swahili, Chinese, German or French.
One tap to understand
Under every message from the other person there's a small Translate link. Tap it and the message appears in your own app language, right under the original. Tap Show original to hide it again.
Private to your trip
Only the rider and the driver of that trip can see or translate its messages, and no phone numbers are shared.
Works in the Tinka rider and driver apps on Android and iPhone.
Questions, answered
Which languages does the Tinka app support? +
Both the Tinka rider app and the Tinka driver app work in English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Swahili and Chinese. Change it any time under Accounts → Change Language.
I don't speak English. Can I still chat with my driver? +
Yes. Write to your driver in your own language. Your driver taps Translate under your message and reads it in their language, and when they reply you tap Translate to read it in yours.
Which languages can the chat translator understand? +
It understands messages in many languages, including English, Luganda, Swahili, Chinese, German, French, Spanish and Arabic, and translates them into the reader's app language.
Do I need to install anything extra to translate? +
No. The translator is built into the Tinka trip chat. There's nothing to set up: just tap Translate under a message.
Is my chat private? +
Yes. Only the rider and the driver of that trip can see or translate its messages, and you never need to share phone numbers.
